EU observers will give a preliminary report today on the fairness of Kenya's election. Uhuru Kenyatta, currently president, held a strong lead but Raila Odinga, the opposition candidate, insists voting systems were hacked. As sporadic protests broke out across the country yesterday the electoral commission urged calm; demonstrations after an election a decade ago killed more than 1,000 people.
