Some Equifax Customers Who Sought Safety Got Burned in the Data Breach

Purchases of the monitoring service that led to card data being stolen were made before Equifax disclosed last week that a massive hack had exposed vital personal information for potentially 143 million Americans . That information included names, addresses, dates of birth and Social Security numbers. In its announcement, the company said approximately 209,000 people had credit-card data compromised.
