The CIA Director Just Bullied Harvard Into Throwing Chelsea Manning to the Curb

I normally admire and respect your columns, John, but this one is distressing to me. I am a progressive, and I'm glad that Chelsea Manning was granted a commutation of her long sentence by President Obama. But she was not exonerated of the guilty charge, and, although she may have been a whistle blower, she has now been elevated to the status of a cultural hero, complete with hair and makeup. Harvard should not, in my opinion, have offered her a fellowship at the Kennedy School. Is she a renowned scholar? Or is she a subject of pictures in Vogue? She did break the law. She knew she was doing so. Do we really need to hear everything she has to say about the state of affairs in Iraq? Did she really know everything about it? I feel that the war was a tragic mistake, and I marched against it before it started. I don't favor most projects advanced by the Republicans. Mike Pompeo is probably as corrupt as his fellow cabinet members. But he refused to appear at Harvard? He "bullied them" to dislodge Chelsea Mann ...
