Repeals Clean Power Plan

On Tuesday, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt issued a notice of proposed legislation for a formal repeal of the Clean Power Plan. Enacted under the Obama administration in 2015, the sweeping set of regulations aimed to reduce planet-warming greenhouse gases from the utility sector. The plan was the most comprehensive action the U.S. had taken to combat emissions, and was meant to be a catalyst for a faster conversion to sources of energy with fewer emissions. Now, under the Trump administration, the EPA is hoping to scrap the plan, leaving the United States without a clear national strategy for combating climate change.
