The ACLU Has Challenged the Trump Administration Since the 2016 Election

Days after Trump won the election last November, ACLU executive director, Anthony D. Romero, sent the president-elect a letter that said his proposed policies violated the first, fourth, fifth, eighth, and fourteenth amendments of the Constitution, as well as other statutes and international treaties. Romero included a strong warning that the organization would be watching him , and followed up with a " 7-Point Plan of Action to Take on the Trump Administration ," noting they d have 300 lawyers at the ready, and announced their first legal action in the form of a Freedom of Information Act request on Trump s conflicts of interest.
