United Kingdom PM Theresa May accuses Russia's Vladimir Putin of election meddling, cyber espionage

United Kingdom Prime Minister Theresa May on Monday evening accused Russia of meddling in elections and carrying out cyber espionage, the BBC reported. During a speech at a gathering of business executives in London, May said UK would do what is necessary to protect the country and its allies from Moscow.

Addressing the Lord Mayor's banquet on Monday, UK Prime Minister Theresa May accused Moscow of meddling in other countries' elections and spreading fake news, adding that despite "the scale and nature" of Russia's actions she hopes to avoid the return to the atmosphere of the Cold War era.
