Edgar Ray Killen Dies; Klansman Behind Civil Rights Workers' Murders In 1964 : The Two-Way Edgar Ray Killen, the former Klansman responsible for the infamous murder of three Freedom Summer workers in 1964, has died in a Mississippi prison. Their story inspired the film Mississippi Burning.
